Cost Controller – Energy & Infrastructure Sector:

We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Cost Controller to join a major energy and infrastructure project based onsite in Stafford.
This role is central to maintaining financial integrity across large-scale turnkey projects, ensuring budgets, forecasts, and risks are managed with precision.

Contract Details:

Duration: 6 months (initial contract) with potential for extensions.
Engagement: Through DCG IT LTD (Digisourced) acting as the Employment Business.
Location: Stafford, UK (100% Onsite).

Core Responsibilities:

Budget Management: Maintain project cost-to-complete budgets in alignment with the "as sold" position, collaborating closely with budget holders.
Forecasting & Accuracy: Support forecast estimations and verify the accuracy of actual costs to date, including labor, materials, manufacturing, supplier invoices, and travel expenses.
Risk & Schedule Alignment: Work with the project team to ensure forecasted cost risks are captured and costs are accurately time-phased.
Cost Control: Monitor cost movements against current scope and progress. Compare data with productivity factors and validate the accuracy of all estimates.
Stakeholder Communication: Present transparent financial data and root-cause analyses for budget deviations during project and management reviews.
Financial Reconciliation: Align with the Finance Controller to ensure reconciliation between approved project financial data and official books.
Planning Integration: Coordinate with project planners to ensure costs and schedules are synchronized, providing time-phased forecasts for sales pacing.

Requirements & Experience:

Education: Degree qualified in Finance or an Engineering discipline (with formal financial training).
Project Expertise: Extensive experience in cost controlling for turnkey projects and a proven track record on large-scale, complex infrastructure developments.
Systems & Tools: Deep understanding of project finance with expert knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred). Familiarity with P6 planning software is a distinct advantage.
Leadership: Experience managing small teams within a large project environment.
Risk Management: Strong understanding of risk management processes and analytical tools.
