Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Real-Time Medical Systems on behalf of our client in Newton, MA.

This role offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge, performance-critical medical software that directly supports real-time cardiac care systems. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development of software that integrates closely with medical hardware, supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment while meeting strict quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize high-performance real-time system software
Build, test, debug, and maintain applications that interface with embedded and hardware components
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, product, and quality engineering
Ensure software meets clinical, regulatory, and quality requirements
Drive best practices through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing
Document software architecture, design decisions, testing strategies, and development processes
Troubleshoot complex issues in a regulated medical environment
Participate in lab testing, pre-clinical evaluations, and system demonstrations
Stay current with emerging tools, frameworks, and industry best practices

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with relevant industry experience
OR Master’s degree with applicable experience
OR PhD with relevant research or industry background
Strong proficiency in Python and C++
Solid understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
Hands-on experience with real-time or embedded software development
Experience with hardware–software integration and network communication protocols
Working knowledge of Bluetooth stack implementation and configuration
Experience developing in Linux environments
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile development practices
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with ROS or real-time operating systems (RTOS)
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and scalable system architectures
Background in healthcare, medical devices, or regulated industries
