The Role

As a Service Transition Manager on a 7 month fixed term contract, You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring new and changed IT services are delivered seamlessly into live operation, improving service quality and minimising disruption across the organisation.

Day-to-day, you’ll work across multiple projects to lead the transition of new or changed IT services into live operation. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and operational teams to define service requirements, validate readiness, and oversee handovers. You’ll manage risk, ensure governance and quality standards are met, and keep stakeholders informed at every stage — ensuring each service is delivered smoothly, sustainably, and with minimal impact on live operations.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

Leading service design and transition activities across the full project lifecycle
Managing operational readiness and ensuring smooth handover into live operations
Collaborating with project managers, architects and service owners to meet service requirements
Identifying and mitigating risks to service transition and delivery timelines
Reporting on service readiness status and ensuring governance and quality standards are met
Building strong stakeholder relationships to drive engagement and successful outcomes

Essential Experience Of The Service Transition Manager

Proven experience delivering complex IT service transitions within large or multi-stakeholder environments
Strong knowledge of ITIL practices, specifically Service Design and Service Transition
Demonstrated ability to manage operational readiness and handovers into live service
Skilled in stakeholder management, engagement and communication across technical and business teams
Experience working across the full project lifecycle from initiation to early life support
Proficient in reporting, governance and risk management within service transition activities

Essential Qualifications For The Service Transition Manager

ITIL Foundation certification (v3 or v4)
Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
