What does the Insurance Technician role involve?

You will be supporting the Insurance Manager in the delivery of the insurance service across Bedfordshire Police and Cambridgeshire Constabulary. The role is anticipated to be an agile position, and you will work from different locations across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and occasionally nationally.

Every day is different whatever your role in policing, so here’s an overview of your day-to-day responsibilities:

Liaise with internal departments to ensure all areas of each Force’s activity, personnel, premises and equipment have appropriate levels of cover and assist with insurance-related queries regarding cover and claims
You will also assist in preparing and collating data and documentation for contract renewals and tenders, providing information to the South East and Eastern Region Police Insurance Consortium (SEERPIC) working groups, brokers, and insurers
Support the handling of Liability insurance claims, ensuring all claims information is recorded on claims management IT systems, including inputting and retrieving data
You will also support with the handling of other insurance claims, working with Estates teams for Property claims and the Chiltern Transport Consortium for Motor claims
Assist with preparing, collating and reconciling data for key reports to brokers, insurers, SEERPIC and internal departments
Produce reports to identify claims trends and monitor performance

Are you the right person for the Insurance Technician position?

It Is Important To Us That We Hire Someone With The Right Values And Attitude That Align With Ours. Whether Officer Or Staff, We Are Serving The Public, And The Policing Competency And Values Framework Underpins Everything We Do. We Are Also Looking For You To Have

GCSEs (or equivalent) including English & Mathematics
At least three years recent general insurance experience
Knowledge of the insurance industry, markets and products with the ability to interpret insurance policies and offer appropriate advice
Experience in managing insurance claims
Strong organisation skills and be able to manage a demanding workload with competing priorities
Be proactive and use your initiative
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
