The Role

Contributes to the overall success of the GBM in globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

Build, maintain, and optimize Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines.
Automate build, test, and deployment workflows. Use tools like Terraform, Ansible, to provision and manage infrastructure. Enforce version‑controlled, repeatable infrastructure deployments.
Manage cloud environments (On-Prem, GCP), ensuring scalability, cost efficiency, and resilience.
Implement container platforms (Kubernetes, GKE, RKE2) and container‑based workflows.
Implement observability stacks (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki).
Optimize system performance and drive SRE‑aligned practices such as SLIs/SLOs.
Reduce manual work through automation across build, deployment, infra, configuration, and validation workflows.
Evaluate and integrate DevOps tools to improve developer productivity and operational excellence.
Ensure compliance with organizational governance, audit requirements, and cloud security posture.
Partner with development, architecture, cloud, and security teams.
Support developers by improving build/deploy workflows, templates, and tooling.
Participate in root‑cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
Improve reliability through automation, redundancy, and performance tuning.
Champions a client-driven culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Manages the execution of day-to-day platform engineering project-oriented work efforts and meeting user expectations.
Drive the development, capacity analysis, enhancements of data platform to support our business users.
Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
Planning out projects and involvement in project decisions
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Skills

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

Computer Science Diploma or Degree; or related work experience
Must possess technical proficiency sufficient to effectively perform these activities.
At least 5-7 years of practical experience in DevOps role
Hands on experience in any of the public cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure)
Hands on experience in docker / kubernetes
Critical thinker and problem solving skills
Requires extensive understanding of project management principles and methodology as well as Scotiabank’s IT Roadmap.
