Senior Project Manager, Peel Housing Corporation

Status: Contract Full Time; Duration 24 Months
Salary Range: Non Union Salary Band J; $117,464 per annum to $146,830 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits, where applicable)
Hiring Range: $117,464 per annum to $132,147 per annum
Work Mode:Hybrid; 2 On Site day requirement which can increase based on operational needs * see below for more details about this work mode.
Location: 7120 Hurontario St. Mississauga ON. The successful candidate will require the ability to travel to various sites within Peel Region.
Hours of work:35 Hours per week
Who we are : Peel Housing Corporation provides safe, affordable housing to over 17,000 tenants across 69 residential properties within the Region of Peel. Peel Living is the largest community housing provider within Peel, representing half of the affordable units within the Region. Peel Living remains committed to building inclusive communities and improving quality of life for tenants across the Region of Peel.
Role
What you will do in this role:
L ead multidisciplinary internal and external project teams including project managers, planners, consultants, and contractors while managing complex stakeholder environments and mitigating project, financial, political, and reputational risks.
Provide strategic direction across all phases of development, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
Oversee project planning activities, including critical path analysis, task prioritization, schedule development, and construction budget monitoring.
Coordinate feasibility studies and prepare development plans, project assessments, cash flow analyses, funding requirements, and operating pro formas.
Secure planning approvals in collaboration with municipal partners, including official plan amendments, zoning changes, variances, severances, and permits.
Support negotiations related to development strategy, real estate transactions, legal agreements, and the selection of development partners or consortiums.
Lead procurement processes from planning through award, including drafting scopes of work and supporting contract administration in partnership with Legal Services and Real Estate.
Prepare and review project updates and status reports for clients, senior leadership, the Board of Directors, regional committees, and internal stakeholders, and support presentations to Regional Council.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders by interpreting and negotiating outcomes, resolving issues such as contractor delays, and influencing decisions to advance project objectives.
Anticipate stakeholder needs and proactively address emerging issues, risks, and information requests.
Represent the organization at public consultations, open houses, presentations, and meetings with contractors, regulatory agencies, and community members.
Mentor and guide team members by demonstrating expertise in legal considerations, contract administration, engineering practices, design, and project management.
What The Role Requires
A satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted).
Post-Secondary degree in business, planning, engineering, urban studies or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in housing development, including residential mixed-use, community, non-profit, and/or supportive housing.
Knowledge of Region of Peel’s affordable housing landscape, Non-profit housing environment, and different levels of government policies and incentives schemes is a preferred asset.
Knowledge and applied experience with the development processs, including due diligence, concept design, deal structuing, and municipal approvals
Proven experience collaborating with and managing diverse stakeholders, including developers, municipal officials, councillors, and residents.
Knowledge and understanding of Provincial, GTA, Regional, and local planning issues.
Demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive reports, develop creative solutions to complex problems and present recommendations regarding appraisal, settlement and expropriation.
Combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills/Abilities
Well-developed policy formulation, communications, analytical and problem solving skills
Strong computer skills in MS Office (including MS Project)
Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters
Ability to work with minimal supervision
