**Job title**: Head of Engineering
**Role Summary**: Senior engineering leader responsible for defining technical vision, architecture, and scaling the engineering organization of an AI‑native B2B SaaS startup. Owns end‑to‑end product delivery, team growth, culture, and process from foundational to mature state while collaborating closely with founders to balance rapid growth and product quality.
**Expectations**:
- Lead the UK engineering hub, growing the team from ~9 to 20+ members over 12‑18 months.
- Own technical strategy and decision‑making for a customer‑facing platform operating at production scale.
- Partner with founders and product leadership to set priorities, drive execution, and scale go‑to‑market initiatives.
- Establish engineering culture, hiring standards, and scalable processes that support fast, sustainable delivery.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Develop and communicate a clear technical roadmap aligned with business goals.
2. Design and evolve scalable architecture for cloud‑native SaaS solutions.
3. Build, mentor, and retain a high‑calibre engineering team across multiple roles.
4. Define and enforce engineering standards, code quality, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment practices.
5. Collaborate with product, design, and operations to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
6. Manage capacity, resource planning, and sprint execution across multiple teams.
7. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and knowledge sharing.
8. Represent the engineering organization in executive discussions and external partnerships.
**Required Skills**:
- Proven experience as Head of Engineering, Staff/Principal Engineer, or early CTO in high‑growth SaaS/technology startups.
- Strong architectural and infrastructure expertise, particularly in cloud‑native, AI‑enabled services.
- Deep knowledge of modern development practices: micro‑services, API design, containerization, CI/CD, observability.
- Demonstrated ability to scale teams, processes, and product engineering from early‑stage to multiple‑ten‑hundred‑million‑revenue levels.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional leadership.
- Comfortable making decisions under ambiguity, driving delivery in fast‑paced environments.
- Passion for building engineering culture that values quality, speed, and collaboration.
**Required Education & Certifications**:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline (equivalent experience considered).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Architect, or equivalent) preferred but not mandatory.
