Job title: Engineering Surveyor – Fixed Term Contract
Role Summary: Deliver accurate construction survey support for a large-scale carbon‑capture power station, including control, topographic, setting‑out, verification, and as‑built documentation, while ensuring compliance with quality, health & safety, and project tolerances.
Expectations:
• Execute all survey activities within agreed tolerances and timelines.
• Produce reliable as‑built records and models, maintaining data integrity.
• Support site engineers by providing survey information, calculations, and QA checks.
• Uphold safety culture, identify hazards, and issue observation cards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct site control, topographic, setting‑out, and construction‑stage surveys.
2. Capture, process, and issue survey data using approved software (e.g., 3DR, N4CE, Infinity, SiteScan).
3. Generate accurate as‑built drawings, records, and 3‑D models.
4. Perform QA/QC on design information prior to construction.
5. Verify dimensional compliance at key milestones through control and volume checks.
6. Maintain and secure survey equipment and consumables; report defects.
7. Back up and version‑control survey data per project standards.
8. Liaise with senior surveyors, discipline teams, and site personnel to meet programme deliverables.
9. Conduct survey‑related calculations (volumetrics, clash checks, settlement analysis, structural checks).
10. Adhere to safety procedures, submit TBS, and support safety observations.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in civil/machine engineering survey techniques.
- Expertise in GNSS, geodetic principles, and modern survey equipment.
- Competence with survey software (3DR, N4CE, Infinity, SiteScan).
- Ability to perform QA/QC, volumetric calculations, and settlement monitoring.
- Strong project planning, communication, and teamwork.
- Commitment to health & safety excellence.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Surveying, Geographical, Civil Engineering or related degree (or equivalent experience).
- Membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS, CICES) preferred.
- SMSTS or SSSTS health & safety certification.
- CAA‑recognised drone operator licence (GVC and/or A2 CofC) desirable.
- First Aid at Work qualification (desirable).
