Job Description
Job title: Business Development Director (Pharmaceutical) Role Summary: Lead business development efforts for a commercial‑stage pharmaceutical company focused on long‑acting injectable therapies. Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing technology licensing, co‑development, and partnership agreements, and for managing early alliance activities post‑deal. Expectations: - Secure and close complex partnership agreements that drive portfolio expansion and commercialization. - Deliver strategic analyses and business cases that inform senior management decisions. - Build and sustain relationships with pharmaceutical partners, investors, and scientific stakeholders. - Mentor junior BD staff and promote best practices across the organization. Key Responsibilities: - Identify and evaluate partnership opportunities; conduct market and technology assessments. - Coordinate cross‑functional stakeholder alignment for initial outreach, information packages, and due diligence. - Structure, negotiate, and finalize feasibility, licensing, and co‑development agreements in collaboration with legal, IP, and scientific teams. - Update and maintain BD dashboard (CRM) to reflect pipeline progress and partner status. - Transition closed deals into Alliance Management, ensuring contract compliance and early‑stage partner integration. - Manage early alliance phases: kick‑off meetings, partner information requests, business & knowledge management. - Represent the company at partnering, scientific, and investor conferences, promoting partnership opportunities. - Provide regular updates to senior leadership on partnership development and alliance performance. Required Skills: - 5–10 years of business development experience in life science or pharmaceutical settings. - Proven track record of sourcing, evaluating, and closing multi‑party agreements (licensing, co‑development). - Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management abilities. - Ability to build and lead cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment. - In‑depth understanding of non‑clinical, CMC, clinical, and regulatory development pipelines. - Excellent written and verbal communication in English; presentation and stakeholder‑management skills. - Self‑motivated, results‑driven, and comfortable adapting to changing priorities. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or related field (MBA or similar business degree a plus). - Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Project Management Professional) are an advantage but not mandatory.
