Job Title: AI Engineer (Java)
Role Summary:
Design, develop, and deploy production‑grade AI/ML solutions on Java‑based backend systems. Build scalable microservices, optimize inference pipelines, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to bring machine learning models to production.
Expectations:
- 6–10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on Java.
- Proven track record of delivering large‑scale, high‑performance AI/ML systems.
- Ability to work within rigorous engineering standards and product‑centric culture.
- Prior experience at Apple or deep expertise on Apple‑style projects/products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, code, test, and deploy AI/ML applications using Java.
- Develop and optimize machine‑learning pipelines, inference services, and data‑processing workflows.
- Partner with data scientists, platform engineers, and product teams to productionize models.
- Implement secure, scalable microservices and RESTful APIs to expose AI capabilities.
- Manage large datasets, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security in production.
- Tune model performance, latency, and resource usage in live environments.
- Apply software‑engineering best practices: CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and documentation.
- Contribute to architectural design, system decisions, and technical direction.
Required Skills:
- Expertise in Java (Java SE/EE) for scalable backend development.
- Hands‑on experience building and deploying AI/ML systems in production.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Proficiency with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or equivalent.
- Experience in Linux/Unix environments and cloud or on‑prem deployment.
- Ability to optimize for performance, latency, and resource utilization.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Optional certifications in Java, cloud platforms, or AI/ML are a plus.
