Job title: Senior Category Manager
Role Summary
Lead the procurement of specialised materials and services for the construction of a Rolls‑Royce SMR power plant. Own end‑to‑end category strategy, supplier engagement, contract negotiation, and performance management, while ensuring cost, time, quality, and compliance targets are met. Manage a small team and collaborate cross‑functionally to deliver value and mitigate risks across the product lifecycle.

- Deliver on time and within budget for all category goods and services.
- Demonstrate measurable cost savings and value‑for‑money through strategic sourcing.
- Build a robust, collaborative supply base that supports localisation and business objectives.
- Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical, and sustainability requirements.
- Maintain required security clearances (BPSS, DBS, financial probity).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business goals and risk appetite.
- Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers; negotiate contracts and service levels.
- Use data analytics to drive decision‑making, identify opportunities, and monitor performance.
- Manage risk, including sustainability, safety, and regulatory adherence.
- Lead a high‑performing procurement team; coach, develop, and integrate them with business units.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, finance, and senior stakeholders to align sourcing with product lifecycle.
- Deliver regular reports to the Head of Category on performance, savings, and risk metrics.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience in category management, procurement, contract and supplier relationship management.
- Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
- Proven ability to work with senior-level suppliers and present at executive level.
- Knowledge of construction or manufacturing supply chains.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and adherence to security processes.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional procurement or category management certification (e.g., CIPS, IAGC) preferred.
- Secure (or eligible for) BPSS clearance, DBS check, and financial probity assessment.
