Job Title: IT Category Manager
**Role Summary**
Responsible for leading strategic sourcing, supplier management and cost optimisation across IT, Telecom, and Professional Services categories, managing an annual spend of ~£20 m. Drive end‑to‑end category lifecycle from demand planning to contract execution and performance monitoring.
**Expectations**
- Deliver measurable cost savings, risk mitigation and value creation.
- Align supplier portfolio with global IT strategy and stakeholder requirements.
- Maintain compliance with commercial, legal and regulatory frameworks (data protection, IP, competition law, IR35).
- Provide expert guidance to senior IT and business leaders on market trends and commercial levers.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT category strategy covering software, hardware, cloud, telecoms and managed services.
- Conduct spend analysis, categorize spend, and identify savings and risk opportunities; produce wave plans and prioritised actions.
- Own full lifecycle: demand planning, sourcing actions (RFIs, RFPs, RFQs), negotiation, contract management, renewal and retender.
- Lead complex multi‑supplier negotiations, creating innovative commercial models and TCO reductions.
- Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships; set performance metrics, run scorecards, and conduct regular supplier reviews.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders (regional, global, technical) to define requirements and secure alignment.
- Ensure alignment with governance, compliance, data protection, cybersecurity standards and IR35 assessments.
- Deliver portfolio reporting to internal stakeholders; track savings, risk, and compliance metrics.
**Required Skills**
- 5+ years procurement/strategic sourcing experience, with focus on IT, Telecom, Professional Services.
- Proven track record of cost‑out, descoping, and risk mitigation at portfolio level.
- Expertise in software licensing (Microsoft, Adobe, SAP), cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, SaaS, managed services.
- Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Advanced analytical capability using Excel, pivot tables, spend analytics tools.
- Understanding of contract law, commercial risk, competition law, IP, and IR35.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology or related field.
- Professional procurement qualification (e.g., MCIPS, CIPS) preferred.
