We are passionate and excited about how we can develop and utilise new technologies to shape and inspire changes within an ever-growing marketplace. As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Technical Data Scientist to join Croda’s Data Science & Knowledge Management team, supporting chemistry- and/or biology-led R&D projects. You’ll work closely with scientists and R&D teams to turn complex data into practical models and tools that accelerate research and improve decision-making. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to help grow and scale computational solutions across global R&D.
Who We’re Looking For

MSc/PhD in a relevant quantitative field with a strong background in biology and/or chemistry.
Strong understanding of optimization techniques, predictive modelling (especially machine learning for tabular data), and deep learning (e.g., computer vision).
Demonstrated experience solving complex data challenges using Python.
Strong analytical skills and critical reasoning, with the ability to rapidly understand complex R&D and business activities.
Fluency in written and spoken English, with strong presentation and stakeholder communication skills.
High ambition, drive for results, and focus on execution; proactive, creative problem-solver with strong analytical thinking.
Experience building and maintaining applications or internal tools for delivering models to end users (e.g., Dash, FastAPI, Streamlit) is desirable but not essential.
Practical experience with MLOps and cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure) is desirable but not essential.
Familiarity with software development best practices: version control (Git), testing, modular code, and code review is desirable but not essential.
