Job Description
Job Title: Water Operational Response Analyst Role Summary: Serve as the technical and analytical lead for Water Distribution within Operational Response & Control Hubs, providing expert advice, risk assessment, and incident response support to shift managers and senior decision‑makers. Expactations: Deliver swift, evidence‑based guidance on network disruptions and water quality issues, prioritize outcomes, and coordinate with front‑line teams to protect public health and minimise customer impact. Key Responsibilities - Lead technical analysis of water network incidents, using hydraulic modelling and corporate systems. - Develop, approve, and monitor risk assessments and method statements for safety, quality, and public health compliance. - Coordinate planned work and incidents, ensuring adherence to agreed plans and alarm strategies. - Support Water Asset Controllers with analysis of treatment works, reservoirs, and trunk mains. - Manage pressure and CML alarms, performing root cause analysis and threshold adjustments. - Generate regulatory reporting data (DWI, pollution events) and conduct post‑incident reviews. - Produce asset‑risk and strategic reports for management. - Provide shift updates, handover reports, and participate in standby rota. Required Skills - Strong technical and analytical thinking with decision‑making confidence. - Expertise in water/network engineering, hydraulic modelling, and complex data analysis. - Proven ability to assess prioritisation and deliver accurate, rigorous recommendations. - Excellent organisational, workload‑management, and self‑manning under pressure. - Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills. - Collaborative, accountable, and team‑focused approach. - Proficiency in IT systems and analytical tools. Required Education & Certifications - Degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, or related discipline. - Minimum 2–3 years experience in the water industry, utilities or engineering sector. - Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (DWI, NRW, Environment Agency) preferred.
