**Job Title:** Senior Kernel Linux Engineer
**Role Summary**
Engineers kernel‑level components for high‑availability systems, troubleshooting and optimizing Linux kernels in production data‑center and cloud environments.
**Expectations**
- Deliver critical kernel features, patches, and security hardening.
- Diagnose and resolve kernel‑related performance, security, and driver problems.
- Collaborate across development, QA, and operations on CI/CD for kernel builds.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Develop and maintain Linux kernel subsystems (schedulers, memory, networking, security modules).
2. Debug kernel issues using tools such as eBPF, perf, ftrace, systemtap, and custom instrumentation.
3. Provision, repave, and manage bare‑metal servers; integrate GPU drivers (NVIDIA/AMD) and troubleshoot kernel‑level GPU problems.
4. Implement and support Confidential Computing features (SEV, TDX, SGX) and related kernel extensions.
5. Configure and maintain virtualization stacks (KVM, QEMU) and container runtimes (Docker, containerd, Kubernetes).
6. Harden kernels via secure boot, SELinux/AppArmor, and other hardening practices.
7. Participate in kernel release processes, including regression testing, patch submission, and community collaboration.
8. Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for kernel builds, automated testing, and deployment.
**Required Skills**
- Deep knowledge of Linux kernel internals (scheduling, memory mgmt, networking, security).
- Practical experience with kernel debugging tools (eBPF, perf, ftrace, systemtap).
- Bare‑metal system provisioning, repaving, and lifecycle management.
- GPU driver development and kernel‑level GPU troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Confidential Computing (SEV, TDX, SGX) and related kernel modules.
- Proficiency in C, C++, Python, and Bash scripting.
- Experience with KVM, QEMU, Docker, containerd, and Kubernetes.
- Secure boot, kernel hardening, SELinux/AppArmor knowledge preferred.
- CI/CD pipeline development for kernel builds and testing preferred.
- Experience in large‑scale datacenter or cloud environments.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- No specific certifications required; certifications in Linux administration (e.g., RHCE, LFCS) or security (e.g., CISSP) viewed favorably.
