**Job title:** Senior Product Development Engineer – Chiller Consultant (Remote Contractor)
**Role Summary:**
Provide expert‑level technical consulting on the design, development, and optimization of chiller systems under an R&D business‑management team. Lead end‑to‑end product development from concept to launch, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders across cycle, aerodynamics, mechanical, magnetic bearing, motor, control, and manufacturing disciplines.
**Expectations:**
* Deliver senior technical guidance on chiller R&D projects.
* Travel to the Korean headquarters as required; work remotely for the remainder of duties.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
* Communicate findings in detailed reports and presentations to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Advise on chiller system and cycle engineering, aerodynamic design, structural integrity, magnetic bearing systems, motors, and heat exchangers.
2. Conduct aerodynamic, structural, rotor dynamics, heat exchanger, and motor analyses to improve component performance.
3. Guide product development processes: concept development, prototyping, line‑up, validation, and launch readiness.
4. Plan and execute system‑level and component‑level testing, including test rig setup, performance validation, and data interpretation.
5. Mentor engineering staff and support technical training initiatives.
6. Evaluate existing chiller systems, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance with AHRI, ISO, F‑Gas, and other energy‑efficiency standards.
7. Prepare and deliver technical reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders.
8. Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and external partners to integrate new technologies and refrigerants into next‑generation architectures.
**Required Skills:**
* Minimum 20 years of hands‑on chiller R&D or project delivery experience.
* Proven expertise in turbo‑compressor, heat‑exchanger, and magnetic‑bearing systems for chiller products.
* Experience with aerodynamic design, structural design, and motor design.
* Knowledge of HVAC industry regulations and energy‑certification standards (AHRI, ISO, F‑Gas).
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to lead cross‑functional collaboration and mentor teams.
* Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
* Bilingual proficiency in Korean preferred.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
* Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Systems, or related field (Ph.D. preferred).
* Certifications related to HVAC design, thermodynamics, or relevant industry standards not mandatory but advantageous.
