Job title: Cloud/DevOps Engineer (Apigee Hybrid)
Role Summary: Lead technical architect and engineer for Apigee Hybrid deployments on GCP, driving operational excellence, platform scalability, and secure API governance across on‑prem and cloud environments.
Expectations: Deliver high‑availability Apigee Hybrid solutions, mentor cross‑functional teams, and continuously improve CI/CD and automation pipelines while ensuring compliance with enterprise security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Apigee Hybrid runtime, ingress, routing, shared flows, and platform component engineering.
- Own installation, upgrades, scaling, automation, monitoring, and day‑to‑day maintenance.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement reliability enhancements.
- Collaborate with GKE infrastructure, security, and networking teams on node pools, RBAC, workload identity, certificates, and cluster networking.
- Maintain API network controls (DNS, firewalls, load balancers, north/south traffic).
- Enhance CI/CD for API proxies and bundles via GitOps, Terraform, Cloud Build, or equivalent.
- Create and enforce platform standards, reusable assets, and operational documentation.
- Work with architects and product teams to secure API design, enforce governance, and align with enterprise architecture.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years in Solutions/Platform Engineering, SRE, or related roles.
- Proven production experience with Apigee Hybrid.
- Deep knowledge of GCP, GKE, Kubernetes networking, workloads, security, and scaling.
- Strong understanding of DNS, firewalls, VPC design, load balancers, routing, and mTLS.
- Hands‑on CI/CD, GitOps, Terraform, and Cloud Build expertise.
- Solid grasp of API security (OAuth, JWT, mTLS), quotas, rate limiting, and governance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross‑team collaboration skills.
Nice to Have: Experience with Apigee X, migration projects, service meshes (Istio/Anthos), and other API gateways.
Required Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; relevant cloud certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer) preferred.
