APIGEE Solution Engineer
**Role Summary**
Technical lead for Apigee Hybrid, responsible for designing, deploying, scaling, monitoring, and securing the enterprise API management stack across on‑prem and cloud environments. Guides engineering teams, drives operational excellence, and integrates platform best practices with infrastructure, security, and product functions.
**Expectations**
- Own end‑to‑end Apigee lifecycle: release, upgrade, scale, and automate.
- Build and maintain high‑availability, secure, and performant API gateways.
- Mentor developers and operators; produce clear standards and documentation.
- Collaborate across networking, security, and product teams to enforce governance and architecture compliance.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead Apigee Hybrid architecture, runtime, ingress, routing, shared flows, and platform components.
- Plan & execute installation, upgrade, scaling, automation, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot live incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement long‑term reliability improvements.
- Consult with GKE infrastructure team on node pools, RBAC, workload identity, certificates, and cluster networking.
- Partner with networking/security to configure DNS, firewalls, load balancers, mTLS, and traffic routing.
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines for API proxies, shared flows, bundles, and config deployments using GitOps and automation tools.
- Define platform standards, onboarding patterns, reusable assets, and operational documentation.
- Ensure secure API design, governance enforcement, and alignment with enterprise architecture.
**Required Skills**
- 5+ years in solutions engineering, platform engineering, or SRE roles.
- Hands‑on experience with Apigee Hybrid in production.
- Proficiency in GCP, GKE, and Kubernetes (workloads, networking, security, scaling).
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking (DNS, VPC, firewalls, load balancers, routing, mTLS).
- Expertise in CI/CD and GitOps tooling (Terraform, Cloud Build, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of API security (OAuth, JWT, mTLS), quotas, rate limiting, and governance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross‑team collaboration skills.
- Ability to mentor engineers and provide technical guidance.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer) preferred.
- Apigee API Management Certification or equivalent.
