Data Science (Geospatial Advanced Analytics)
**Role Summary:**
Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced geospatial analytics solutions. Integrate machine learning, spatial statistics, and big‑data technologies to extract actionable insights from large geospatial datasets. Build and maintain scalable cloud‑based data infrastructures, develop ETL pipelines, and create user‑facing web or desktop applications for stakeholders in urban planning, transportation, environmental monitoring, and other domains.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver robust predictive and descriptive models that drive decision‑making in geospatial contexts.
- Design and optimize cloud‑based data pipelines (ETL) for ingestion, cleansing, and transformation of massive spatial datasets.
- Collaborate with GIS analysts, software engineers, and business users to translate analytical findings into actionable tools and visualizations.
- Stay current with emerging geospatial data acquisition methods (satellite, aerial, LiDAR) and analytics techniques.
- Operate under a hybrid work arrangement (three days onsite, flexibility for remote collaboration).
- Provide high‑quality code, documentation, and maintainability across projects.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and deploy predictive models and spatial statistical analyses using Python, R, and SQL.
- Build and manage scalable data pipelines (ETL) for large geospatial and big‑data workloads on cloud platforms.
- Implement GIS functionalities in web mapping solutions, leveraging ArcGIS, QGIS, or custom GIS libraries.
- Perform image classification, change detection, and feature extraction from satellite, aerial, and LiDAR imagery.
- Integrate and orchestrate big‑data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) for performance optimization.
- Ensure reproducibility and version control of models and data processes (Git, CI/CD).
- Communicate insights through dashboards, reports, and interactive visualizations.
- Mentor junior analysts and support cross‑functional teams.
**Required Skills:**
- **Programming:** Python (GeoPandas, Shapely, Pandas, scikit‑learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch), R, SQL, and optionally Java/Scala.
- **Cloud Platforms:** Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
- **Data Science & Modeling:** Predictive modeling, machine learning, deep learning, spatial statistics, time‑series analysis.
- **GIS Software:** Esri ArcGIS (Pro/Online/Enterprise), QGIS, GRASS GIS, or similar.
- **Big‑Data Technologies:** Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or equivalent distributed processing frameworks.
- **ETL & Data Engineering:** Linting, transformation, data quality, schema design, batch and stream processing.
- **Visualization & Mapping:** Leaflet, Cesium, Mapbox, OpenLayers, or comparable web mapping libraries.
- **Soft Skills:** Strong analytical mindset, problem‑solving, communication, and collaborative teamwork.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Geospatial Science, GIS, Remote Sensing, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- Professional certifications highly preferred: Esri ArcGIS Desktop/Server Analyst, AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, GCP Professional Data Engineer, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in geospatial analytics and data engineering roles.
