Job Description
**Job Title:** Research Engineer – Radio‑Oceanography (M2C Unit) **Role Summary:** Conduct high‑frequency radar remote‑sensing engineering and oceanographic analysis to support the M2C research unit’s investigations of coastal hydrodynamics and contribute to the TidalRace (FloWatt) project. Manage radar data, develop and improve signal‑processing methods, integrate model and in‑situ data, and produce technical and scientific deliverables. **Expectations:** - Deliver accurate, validated radar data products and signal‑processing improvements. - Provide scientific support to project partners and internal teams. - Produce high‑quality technical notes, project deliverables, and peer‑reviewed publications in English and French. - Participate actively in project meetings and collaborative engineering activities. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage and maintain the high‑frequency radar database (Cap de la Hague). - Execute, validate, and enhance existing radar signal‑processing algorithms. - Apply numerical model outputs and pre‑processed in‑situ measurements to oceanographic analyses. - Conduct physical hydrodynamic assessments of coastal ocean processes. - Draft technical documentation, project reports, and scientific papers. - Support the implementation of research activities within the TidalRace (FloWatt) project. - Communicate results orally and in writing to internal and external stakeholders. **Required Skills:** - Deep knowledge of coastal physical hydrodynamics. - Expertise in surface remote sensing and high‑frequency radar principles. - Proficiency in signal‑processing methods for radar data. - Strong programming abilities in scientific languages (Fortran, Python, C++). - Experience with numerical modelling and data integration. - Excellent technical writing skills in both French and English. - Ability to work independently and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography, Fluid Mechanics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field. - No specific professional certifications required; eligibility contingent on funding availability and contract terms (CDD, full‑time).
