Associate Cybersecurity Engineer Intern – Pen Testing (Summer 2026)
Role Summary
An entry‑level cybersecurity intern participating in a 12‑week program focused on conducting ethical penetration tests on Visa’s mobile and Mac products, developing and maintaining security tools, researching AI applications for security operations, and collaborating across teams to strengthen the organization’s security posture.
Expectations
- Students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or related field, graduating between Dec 2026 and Aug 2027.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication, with attention to clarity and professional tone.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and apply new concepts in a fast‑moving, startup‑like environment.
- Active participation in workshops, hands‑on projects, and a final presentation to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute ethical penetration tests on mobile and Mac assets, simulating real‑world attack scenarios.
- Identify, document, and recommend remediation for vulnerabilities in Visa’s mobile and web applications, covering OWASP Top 10, CWE 25, and mobile‑specific security concerns.
- Develop and maintain internal cybersecurity tools and scripts, primarily using Python and optional languages such as Node, Kotlin, Java, or Swift.
- Research and prototype AI‑driven workflows and model applications to enhance security testing and monitoring.
- Automate testing processes, improve efficiency, and integrate findings into existing risk frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (product, engineering, compliance) to embed security controls and best practices.
- Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing project outcomes, insights, and recommendations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python scripting; familiarity with one or more of Node, Kotlin, Java, Swift is a plus.
- Solid understanding of web application security, OWASP Top 10, CWE 25, and fundamental cryptographic concepts.
- Basic knowledge of mobile platform security, SDKs, and mobile wallet technologies.
- Exposure to penetration testing methodologies (reverse engineering, network interception, injection attacks) and risk assessment.
- Interest or experience in AI/ML concepts (model understanding, vectoring, prompt engineering) for security use cases.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation abilities.
Required Education & Certifications
- Current enrollment toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Systems, Business, or a closely related discipline.
- Expected graduation between December 2026 and August 2027.
- No specific certifications required, though relevance of industry credentials (e.g., CEH, OSCP, CISSP) may be considered favorably.
