Job Description: **Job Title:** Software Engineer in Test (SDET Level 1) **Role Summary:** Entry‑level Software Development Engineer in Test responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions for backend services and APIs. Works closely with development, product, and QA teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle in a microservices environment. **Expectations:** - 2‑4 years of professional QA/SDET experience. - Proficient in SQL database testing and query validation. - Hands‑on automation experience for backend APIs and services. - Ability to write scripts/programs (preferably Java) and use version‑control tools. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. **Key Responsibilities:** - Create and maintain automated test scripts for backend services and REST/SOAP APIs. - Perform SQL database testing, validate complex queries, and manage test data. - Execute API testing across microservices using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or SoapUI. - Work with JSON, XML, web services, and JMS for integration testing. - Participate in test planning, design, execution, and defect reporting. - Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA peers to embed quality in each SDLC phase. - Manage test code in Bitbucket/Git repositories. - Conduct testing activities on Linux/Unix platforms and use basic command‑line utilities. **Required Skills:** - QA/SDET experience (2‑4 years). - Strong SQL querying and database validation. - Backend automation and API testing expertise. - Familiarity with microservices architecture. - Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (Java preferred). - Experience with API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI). - Basic Linux/Unix command knowledge. - Understanding of SDLC, release processes, and testing methodologies. - Version control (Git/Bitbucket). - Excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork, and analytical abilities. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). - No specific certifications required; relevant industry certifications (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) are a plus.
