Demand Planning Analyst
Role Summary:
Analytical core of the long‑range forecasting function; interprets product and market trends, identifies anomalies, and provides insight to guide volume, mix, and growth decisions across 18–24‑month horizons.
Expactations:
- Deliver accurate, assumption‑driven forecasts that incorporate historical data and forward‑looking market intelligence.
- Act as an early warning system for abnormal SKUs, trend shifts, and emerging portfolio risks.
- Partner cross‑functionally to validate drivers, assess forecast accuracy, and recommend process or model improvements.
- Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead interpretation of long‑range forecasts across product families and channels.
- Highlight focus areas, unusual shifts, and emerging trends; serve as early radar for potential issues.
- Conduct deep‑dive analysis of sales trends, product lifecycles, and category performance to identify growth drivers and risks.
- Evaluate cannibalization, halo effects, and portfolio expansion stemming from new product launches.
- Track and synthesize market share and competitive dynamics into demand implications and scenario assumptions.
- Build and maintain forecasting models (time‑series, regression, ML) integrating qualitative inputs.
- Review forecast performance, assess accuracy metrics (MAPE, error rate), and recommend improvements.
- Develop best/base/worst‑case projections to support strategic capacity, supply, and financial planning.
- Align forecast drivers and assumptions with Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain.
- Create and maintain dashboards visualizing trends, forecast vs. actual performance, and key business drivers.
- Communicate insights clearly and persuasively to influence stakeholders across levels and functions.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert in long‑range forecasting methodologies and best practices.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years experience in demand planning, forecasting or business analytics with long‑range planning responsibility.
- Proficiency in Excel modeling and demand planning tools (SAP APO, Oracle Demantra, Blue Yonder, John Galt Atlas, etc.).
- Knowledge of time‑series, regression, and machine‑learning modeling techniques.
- Strong analytical reasoning and the ability to translate data into strategic business stories.
- Excellent storytelling, presentation, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Deep understanding of product lifecycle management, innovation pipelines, and portfolio dynamics.
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable navigating ambiguity in fast‑moving, data‑rich environments.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certifications in supply‑chain planning, analytics, or data science (e.g., APICS CPIM, SCOR, Six Sigma, Tableau/Power BI, SAS/SQL) are advantageous but not mandatory.
