**Job Title:** Laboratory Technician
**Role Summary:**
Operate within an R&D and pilot‑plant microbiology laboratory to perform sample receipt, media preparation, routine microbial analyses, and documentation. Support microbiological studies, maintain quality standards, and manage laboratory operations and data systems.
**Expectations:**
* Maintain sample integrity and accuracy in test results.
* Follow SOPs, GLP, and data integrity protocols.
* Communicate results and deviations promptly to stakeholders.
* Operate and calibrate lab equipment safely and reliably.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of lab processes and culture collection management.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Receive, log, label, and process R&D/pilot‑plant samples.
- Execute routine microbial tests (APC, coliforms, yeast & mold, swab/rinse).
- Prepare culture media, buffers, reagents, and perform sterility checks.
- Assist in microbiological challenge/qualification studies (inoculation, monitoring, data capture).
- Record, verify, and route test outcomes; notify stakeholders of releases or out‑of‑spec findings.
- Maintain inventory, order supplies, and perform equipment checks and cleaning.
- Support QC programs, proficiency testing, and proficiency activities.
- Maintain and update the laboratory culture collection.
- Use SharePoint, DM templates, LIMS, or equivalent for sample tracking and data entry.
**Required Skills:**
- Proficient aseptic technique and microbiological methods (serial dilutions, pour/spread plates, colony counting, culture transfers).
- Operation of lab equipment: autoclave, incubators, membrane filtration, pH meter, balances, biosafety cabinet.
- Accurate data entry, documentation, and adherence to SOPs.
- Attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication.
- Teamwork, time management, and ability to work in a fast‑paced R&D environment.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- B.S. in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or related discipline (with microbiology coursework/labs).
- 1–3+ years hands‑on experience in a microbiology lab or equivalent academic, internship, or co‑op experience.
- Knowledge of GLP, data integrity, and quality system practices.
