**Job Title** Underwriting Intern **Role Summary** A 10‑week summer internship focused on commercial insurance underwriting. Interns rotate through umbrella, general liability, or property underwriting tracks, gaining hands‑on experience in policy life‑cycle activities, shadowing seasoned underwriters, and contributing to real projects while participating in a formal learning curriculum. **Expectations** - Complete the structured learning program and apply classroom theory to underwriting scenarios. - Develop professional competencies (analysis, communication, teamwork). - Deliver quality support across teams, and potentially transition to a full‑time analyst role. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Pull and review loss runs for assigned accounts. 2. Assist with the submission intake process and data capture. 3. Process non‑monetary endorsements (e.g., mailing address changes). 4. Enter risk information into quoting/rating platforms. 5. Shadow underwriters in all departments to understand workflow and business context. 6. Complete project assignments and contribute to team tasks. **Required Skills** - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Ability to work collaboratively in diverse, cross‑functional teams. - Self‑starter with the capacity to work independently and within a group. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with data tools (SQL, Tableau, Python) is a plus. - Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. **Required Education & Certifications** - Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Economics, Liberal Arts, or a related discipline. - Must be authorized to work in the employment country without sponsorship. **Preferred (Optional)** - Prior internship or work experience in insurance, risk or underwriting. - Coursework or projects involving data analysis, business strategy, or technology. - Demonstrated leadership potential through academics, extracurriculars, or volunteer work.
