**Job title:** Assistant Director of Capital Projects
**Role Summary:**
Lead the planning, procurement, and delivery of a portfolio of major capital construction, refurbishment, and infrastructure projects within a large, complex educational estate. Manage a high‑performing project team and collaborate with senior stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality and sustainability standards.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver all projects on schedule, within budget, and meeting safety, quality, and sustainability goals.
- Build and maintain a motivated project team and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Own end‑to‑end project delivery: business case development, procurement, construction, and completion.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of project managers; set clear objectives and performance measures.
- Oversee procurement of consultants and contractors, ensuring value for money and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Manage project costs, schedules, and resources, proactively mitigating risks and resolving issues.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the organization and with external partners, ensuring transparent communication.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental policies throughout project life cycles.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven leadership in large‑scale capital construction programmes.
- Expertise in procurement, contract management, cost control, and construction project delivery.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Analytical and strategic thinking for business case development.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Built Environment, or related discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, ICE).
