Job Description
Job title: Fractional Chief Financial Officer Role Summary: Provide senior financial leadership on a part‑time basis to a scaling legal‑tech company, translating strategy into robust financial plans, building advanced models, and preparing the business for a major financial event while establishing scalable finance processes and governance. Expactations: Demonstrate proven CFO experience in an SME/technology context, lead critical financial modeling, ensure accurate forecasting, oversee event preparation, strengthen controls, and communicate complex financial insights effectively to founders, investors, and staff. Key Responsibilities: • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to align business strategy with financial plans and forecasts. • Construct and maintain multi‑year models, cash‑flow projections, and scenario analyses for valuation, fundraising, and investor discussions. • Lead financial preparation for a key event (fundraise, acquisition, or exit), create investor‑ready materials, and manage relationships with advisors. • Design, implement, and refine scalable finance processes, budgeting frameworks, and reporting systems. • Strengthen financial controls, ensure statutory and tax compliance, and establish governance suitable for a scaling tech business. • Coordinate with internal finance staff, external accountants, and bookkeepers; educate non‑financial stakeholders on best practices. • Communicate financial matters clearly to all stakeholders, supporting board‑level reporting and investor relations. Required Skills: • Advanced financial modeling and forecasting. • Strategic financial planning and partnership. • Experience leading or supporting fundraising, M&A, or exit events. • Process design, governance, and control implementation. • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (statutory, tax, and reporting). • Strong stakeholder and stakeholder management skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication. • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, founder‑led environment. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or higher preferred). • Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent highly desirable.
