Job Description
Job Title: Predictive Data Analyst Role Summary: Support acute communicable disease control by managing, analyzing, and visualizing county, departmental, or divisional health data. Apply classical and machine learning methods to develop predictive models that inform program design and performance monitoring. Create dashboards, reports, and other visualization products for program managers. Expectations: - Deliver timely, actionable insights to guide data-driven decision making for disease control programs. - Maintain data integrity and governance across multiple health datasets. - Communicate complex analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders. - Work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams. - Adhere to data confidentiality and security standards. Key Responsibilities: - Collect, clean, and integrate data from various health sources. - Design and implement predictive and prescriptive analytics models. - Develop and update interactive dashboards and visual reports. - Document methodologies, assumptions, and results for reproducibility. - Conduct hypothesis-driven analysis to test program interventions. - Monitor model performance and adjust parameters as needed. - Provide recommendations for program optimization based on data insights. Required Skills: - Proficiency in data analytics tools (SQL, Python, R, or equivalent). - Experience with machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.). - Strong statistical analysis and hypothesis testing capabilities. - Data visualization skills using Power BI, Tableau, or similar. - Ability to manage large datasets and ensure data quality. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Familiarity with public health data standards and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA) is a plus. Required Education & Certifications: Option I: - Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Psychology, or Public Health *and* 2+ years of relevant experience, or - Master’s/Doctoral degree in one of the above fields. Option II: - 4+ years of experience designing, conducting, and evaluating research projects that use machine learning and predictive analytics. Additional Requirements: - California Class C Driver’s License or ability to use alternative transportation for essential functions when required.
