**Job Title** Garment Technologist **Role Summary** The Garment Technologist oversees the end‑to‑end lifecycle of a dedicated product line, ensuring technical specifications, fit, quality, and cost targets are met. The role collaborates closely with Design, Buying, Merchandising, and Suppliers, providing technical expertise throughout development, manufacturing, and post‑production stages. **Expectations** - Deliver products on critical path, meeting deadlines and quality standards. - Own technical specifications, fit sessions, and grading for assigned product areas. - Maintain supplier relationships, support cost optimisation, and manage quality inspections. - Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills. **Key Responsibilities** 1. **Product Development** - Create and sign off graded specifications for assigned product ranges. - Conduct weekly fit sessions; provide suppliers with detailed fit and construction feedback. - Attend critical path meetings with suppliers, addressing any potential shipment delays. - Advise buying team on cost implications of fit or construction changes. - Own the care label process for product areas. 2. **Quality Assurance** - Collaborate with Fabric Technician to evaluate fabric suitability; analyze test reports. - Coordinate wearer trials for new styles, collating feedback for the team. - Review AQL inspections; work with merchandising to ensure compliance. 3. **Cross‑functional Collaboration** - Partner with Design, Buying, and Merchandising to align technical and commercial objectives. - Engage in cross‑departmental projects as required. 4. **Logistics & Compliance** - Manage factory visits and business travel for product sampling or events. - Ensure adherence to safety, sustainability, and regulatory standards. **Required Skills** - Technical garment development and fitting expertise. - Proficiency in grading and spec documentation. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management. - Time‑management skills to prioritize competing tasks. - Attention to detail and commitment to quality. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Technology, Textile Engineering, or related field. - Experience level: 3–5 years as a Garment Technologist or Technical Designer in a manufacturing environment preferred. - Certifications in garment grading, fit analysis, or textile testing are advantageous.
