**Job Title**: People Operations Associate
**Role Summary**: Entry-level HR role supporting HR operations, employee lifecycle processes, and cultural initiatives for a biotech startup. Focus on compliance, workflow optimization, and fostering a purpose-driven workplace.
**Expectations**: Strong organizational skills, compliance expertise (CA employment law), HR system proficiency, proactive problem-solving, and a service-oriented approach to employee support.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Manage onboarding/offboarding, internal transitions, and interview scheduling.
- Maintain HRIS systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Administer benefits, leave tracking, and HR documentation integrity.
- Develop workflows, tools, and internal policies to improve operational efficiency.
- Coordinate logistics for company events, culture initiatives, and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Address HR inquiries, vendor coordination, and compliance-related tasks (e.g., training audits, reporting).
- Support performance reviews, HR reporting, and metrics tracking.
- Plan employee recognition programs, onboarding experiences, and internal engagement initiatives.
**Required Skills**:
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in HR tools (Rippling, Google Workspace, Slack, Asana).
- Strong verbal/written communication and discretion with sensitive data.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
**Required Education & Certifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–4 years of HR, People Operations, or administrative experience in a startup/biotech environment preferred.
- Familiarity with California employment law and HR compliance practices.
