**Job Title**
Operations Consultant
**Role Summary**
Lead and scale operational processes for a fintech startup’s charge‑off debt collections unit. Transition from a contract role into a full‑time position overseeing day‑to‑day activities, driving compliance, performance measurement, and cross‑functional workflow optimization.
**Expectations**
- Start as a contractor during pre‑product launch, evolve to employee role.
- Deliver measurable improvements in resource utilization, process efficiency, and compliance adherence.
- Work closely with executive leadership to set strategy and operational priorities.
- Cultivate a culture of operational excellence, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, implement, and refine end‑to‑end collection processes from scratch.
- Oversee a small high‑performing team, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Ensure full compliance with FDCPA, CFPB, debt‑collection licensing, and applicable federal/state regulations.
- Track and report on key performance indicators, risk metrics, and regulatory audits.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science to embed AI‑driven workflows into collection operations.
- Identify process bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to maintain high quality and compliance.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, training materials, and compliance documentation.
**Required Skills**
- Proven experience leading operations in collections or a related financial services field.
- Strong knowledge of debt‑collection licensing, FDCPA, CFPB rules, and risk‑management best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale processes in early‑stage or fast‑growth startups.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder‑management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Leadership capability with a track record of mentoring and developing teams.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in performance tracking, reporting, and KPI optimization.
- Adaptability to rapid change, a hands‑on approach, and problem‑solving in dynamic environments.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications in collections, compliance, or operations (e.g., Certified Collection Professional, Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional) preferred.
