Job Description
**Job Title:** Credit Intern, UK **Role Summary:** Assist the Credit Risk Management team in executing a transformation plan, performing counterparty risk analysis, enriching risk data, and exploring generative AI applications. Work cross‑functionally with traders, data engineers, and senior risk staff to support real‑time credit decisions in the energy trading sector. **Expectations:** - Acquire foundational knowledge of counterparty risk principles and energy‑trading dynamics. - Develop analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills through hands‑on risk projects. - Deliver insights that help mitigate credit exposure and optimize risk‑management processes. - Contribute to the design and testing of dashboards and AI initiatives, demonstrating ownership of deliverables within set timelines. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Counterparty Financial Analysis** – Collect, interpret financial statements, credit reports, and relevant data; use models and metrics to assess creditworthiness and exposure; produce reports and presentations for risk mitigation. 2. **Transformation Plan Implementation** – Lead digitisation and enrichment of counterparty data; ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity in the Credit Risk Management System; inject new information into monitoring processes. 3. **Data Quality & Reconciliation** – Identify and resolve discrepancies; conduct investigations to maintain data consistency across platforms. 4. **Dashboard Development** – Assist in designing, testing, and validating risk dashboards using Power BI; collaborate on visualization best practices. 5. **Generative AI Exploration** – Review literature on generative AI in finance; evaluate potential applications for synthetic data generation, scenario simulation, and predictive analytics; assess integration challenges and policy impacts. 6. **Stakeholder Communication** – Liaise with traders to understand commercial needs, provide timely risk insights, and translate complex risk concepts for non‑technical stakeholders. **Required Skills:** - Strong analytical and financial valuation abilities. - Knowledge of counterparty risk concepts and credit assessment techniques. - Data‑management proficiency (structured data handling, quality assurance). - SQL and/or Python (preferred). - Information visualization (Power BI, Tableau, or similar). - Written and verbal communication; ability to distil technical insights for diverse audiences. - Initiative, project prioritisation, and ability to meet deadlines. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Current enrolment or completion of a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or Economics.
