Job Responsibilities:
The intern will be primarily involved in:
The implementation and update of the team's transformation plan,
Managing counterparty risk analysis.
COUNTERPARTY FINANCIAL ANALYSIS:
Collect, analyse, and interpret financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to evaluate the creditworthiness of counterparties.
Utilise financial models and risk metrics to assess potential risk and exposure associated with counterparties and trading activities.
Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
Establish effective communication channels with traders to understand their commercial needs and provide timely support and insights credit risk implications of proposed transactions and counterparties.
IMPLEMENTATION AND UPDATE OF TRANSFORMATION PLAN
Implementation of certain Transformation Initiatives:
Lead the digitalisation and enrichment of counterparty and risk data:
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data related to counterparties (including industry classification, ratings, limits, collateral…) within Credit Risk Management System
Identify and rectify discrepancies or inconsistencies in data through thorough investigation and analysis.
Enrich the database with counterparty information into counterparty monitoring and Credit Risk Management System.
Assist in developing, testing, and validating risk dashboard using Power BI.
Leverage collaboration tools to enhance the sharing of insight within the Team and to stakeholders.
Update of the Transformation Plan - Exploring the application of generation AI and machine learning in credit risk management.
Conduct a review of existing literature, research papers, and case studies on the application of generative AI in finance and risk management.
Explore the capabilities of generative AI models and their possible applications to credit risk assessment (e.g., generating synthetic financial data, simulating potential credit scenarios and stress-testing, enhancing predictive analytics…).
Assess the integration challenges and impact on processes and policies associated with deploying generative AI solutions.
The proposed internship within the Credit Risk Management Team offers a range of valuable learning outcomes for the intern:
Risk Management Principles: the intern will develop a solid understanding of counterparty risk management principles and practices specific to the energy trading industry.
Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: engaging in real-world risk management challenges will teach the intern how to analyse complex situations, evaluate alternative courses of action, and contribute to informed decisions under pressure.
Financial analysis skills: the intern will have the opportunity to apply finance and accounting knowledge to the management of counterparty risk in the context of energy trading. The intern will develop a strong understanding of financial statements, regulatory risks, sanction landscape and enhance their ability to evaluate credit & counterparty risks.
Communication and Collaboration: the intern will learn how to communicate complex risk concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with colleagues across different teams.
Data Management and Analysis: the intern will gain experience in organising and structuring data.
Project Management and Initiative: the intern will learn how to prioritize tasks, set goals, and execute projects within given timelines and resource constraints.
Professional & personal development: the intern will gain experience in working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities and organising their time and workload. Throughout the internship, the intern will receive guidance from senior members of the team.
Overall, the internship will equip the intern with essential skills, knowledge, and competencies for a successful career in risk management within the energy trading industry or related sectors. It is also the opportunity to advance understanding of how latest generative AI technology can enhance risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
Qualifications Required:
Undertaking a degree in one of the following disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Business, Business Analytics, Computer Science or Economics
Proficiency in SQL, Python and Information Visualisation is preferred, but not a must.
