**Job Title:** Software Engineering Manager
**Role Summary:**
Lead a remote team of approximately 15 engineers developing the Mercury SaaS logistics platform. Focus on people management, capacity planning, high‑quality delivery, tool and process improvement, and cross‑functional stakeholder communication. No day‑to‑day coding; provide strategic technical guidance and ensure platform reliability, scalability, and security.

- Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.
- Own capacity planning, performance metrics, and efficiency improvements.
- Drive project execution, estimate timelines, and deliver on commitments.
- Translate technical requirements for non‑technical stakeholders and vice versa.
- Maintain platform stability, manage technical debt, and uphold security best practices.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead, mentor, and empower the remote engineering team.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Advise recruitment and talent development efforts.
- Plan capacity, measure performance, and improve productivity.
- Monitor project milestones, facilitate estimation, and ensure timely delivery.
- Communicate project status to Product, Solutions, and business stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance on platform fit for feature requests.
- Drive continuous improvement of developer tooling, QA, automated testing, service performance, and observability.
- Address technical debt while prioritizing stability, scalability, and security.
- Contribute to overall technical platform strategy with senior leaders.
**Required Skills:**
- 5+ years of experience leading web‑software development teams.
- Strong people‑management, mentorship, and empowerment capabilities.
- Expertise in capacity planning and performance measurement.
- Proven ability to improve engineering productivity and quality.
- Experience with large‑scale SaaS web platforms.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, including interfacing with non‑technical business stakeholders.
- Organizational and administrative proficiency.
- Comfortable working in flexible, dynamic environments.
- Self‑motivated and committed to continuous improvement.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). Web‑software development expertise and team‑lead experience are mandatory; additional certifications (e.g., PMP, SAFe, AWS/Google Cloud) are a plus but not required.
