Job Title: Business Development & Sales Intern (Commission-Based)
Role Summary:
Commission‑only intern responsible for the complete outbound sales cycle targeting SMBs and mid‑market firms. Activities include prospecting, initiating outreach, conducting discovery calls, supporting deal closure, and maintaining CRM data to drive business growth.
Expectations:
- Generate and nurture a self‑sufficient pipeline of qualified leads.
- Consistently meet or exceed outreach, conversion, and revenue milestones.
- Keep CRM entries current and accurate, providing weekly updates on progress.
- Adopt and refine messaging, outreach scripts, and sales playbooks based on feedback.
- Demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and build prospect lists using LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, and other lead‑generation tools.
- Qualify prospects on size, industry, and AI/automation need.
- Execute multi‑step outreach via email, LinkedIn, and occasional phone calls.
- Initiate conversations with decision‑makers, clearly articulating value propositions.
- Book, join, or prepare for discovery calls to surface pain points and map automation solutions.
- Collaborate with founders to coordinate demos, prepare proposals, and move deals forward.
- Manage follow‑ups, answer initial questions, and prompt next steps toward contract signing.
- Update CRM with call notes, stages, next actions, and forecasting data.
- Share insights on channel effectiveness and assist in refining playbooks.
Required Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication, adept at initiating conversations and active listening.
- Proven ability to prospect and qualify leads; experience in sales, business development, fundraising, or customer‑facing roles preferred.
- Comfortable with outbound tools: LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, HubSpot or other CRMs, cold‑email platforms, Calendly.
- Basic understanding of AI, automation, or B2B SaaS concepts; ability to explain technical products simply.
- Resilient mindset, persistence with rejection, and willingness to iterate.
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and self‑managed, maintaining accurate pipeline tracking.
- Coachable, eager to receive feedback, and trainable on new scripts and methodologies.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Minimum high‑school diploma or equivalent; higher education (university) is an advantage.
- No specific degree required; sales or business-related coursework welcomed.
- Certifications in sales methodologies (e.g., SPIN, NABC) or CRM tools are desirable but not mandatory.
