About the Role

Midra AI is building AI-powered automation and voice agents for small–to–mid-sized businesses and professional service firms. We’re now looking for a Business Development & Sales Intern who wants to be on the front lines: finding prospects, starting conversations, and closing deals.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is hungry, entrepreneurial, and excited by the idea of getting paid directly based on the value they create. You’ll work closely with the founders, learn how to sell technical products to real clients, and play a direct role in growing our customer base.

Important: This is a commission-only role. There is no base salary or hourly pay. Earnings depend entirely on the value and volume of deals you help close.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be responsible for the full outbound sales cycle for SMBs and mid-market companies:

Prospecting & Lead Generation

Research and identify potential clients (law firms, accounting firms, trades/contractors, property managers, agencies, etc.)
Use tools like LinkedIn, Apollo, cold email, and lead lists to build targeted prospect lists
Qualify prospects based on size, industry, and their need for automation/AI solutions

Outbound Outreach & Relationship Building

Run multi-step outreach sequences (email, LinkedIn, sometimes phone)
Start conversations with business owners, managers and decision-makers
Clearly communicate what Midra AI does and how we can help their specific business

Discovery & Solution Mapping

Book and sometimes join discovery calls with the founders
Ask the right questions to understand a prospect’s workflows, pain points, and decision process
Translate what you hear into simple, compelling automation / AI use cases

Deal Support & Closing

Help move opportunities through the pipeline: follow-ups, answering basic questions, sending recaps
Coordinate demos, proposals and next steps with the founders
Nudge deals across the finish line and celebrate when contracts are signed

CRM & Process

Keep our CRM/lead tracker up to date (notes, stages, next actions)
Share feedback on what messaging and channels are working
Help refine our playbooks and outbound templates over time

Who You Are

Natural communicator: You enjoy talking to people, asking questions, and listening for what really matters to them.
Sales-curious or sales-experienced: Maybe you’ve done door-to-door, telesales, campus sales, fundraising, or you’re the “business one” among your friends.
Entrepreneurial: You like the idea of performance-based rewards. The thought of “I eat what I kill” motivates rather than scares you.
Resilient: You understand that outbound sales means hearing “no” a lot — and it doesn’t discourage you. You iterate.
Organized: You can keep track of leads, follow-ups, and next steps without dropping balls.
Tech-comfortable: You don’t need to be an engineer, but you’re curious about AI/automation and willing to learn how it works at a high level so you can speak about it confidently.
Coachable: You’re open to feedback, hungry to improve, and eager to test new scripts and approaches.

Skills & Experience (Nice to Have, Not All Required)

Prior experience in sales, business development, fundraising, canvassing, or customer-facing roles
Familiarity with tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, HubSpot/CRMs, cold email tools, or Calendly
Interest in AI, automation, or B2B SaaS
Comfortable writing concise outreach messages and speaking professionally with business owners

What You’ll Learn

This internship is designed to be a real-world sales bootcamp around AI and automation:

How to prospect, qualify and open doors with small and mid-sized businesses
How to run discovery around workflows, pain points, and ROI (not just features)
How to sell technical products in simple language
How to work with founders and technical teams to craft offers and pricing
How to manage a sales pipeline, forecast deals, and build repeatable outbound systems

If you’re considering a career in sales, entrepreneurship, consulting, or startup founding, this is very relevant experience.

Compensation

Commission-only, performance-based role
You earn a percentage of closed contract value for the deals you generate and help move to signature
Commission structure will be discussed during the interview and can scale with performance (higher percentage for larger or multi-year deals, potential bonuses for hitting milestones)
There is no fixed salary or hourly pay for this internship
