Job Title: Java Developer (12‑Month Contract) Role Summary: Contract Java Developer responsible for building and maintaining core Java (8+) applications, integrating legacy mainframe components, and driving CI/CD automation for a scalable enterprise system. Expectations: - Deliver clean, tested code within agreed timelines. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of COBOL, DB2, and JCL components. - Maintain comprehensive documentation and contribute to process improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop Java applications using Core Java, Hibernate/JPA, Spring, and Spring Boot. - Build RESTful APIs and implement business logic. - Map mainframe data structures to MS‑SQL relational models; write efficient SQL queries. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate mainframe components (COBOL basics, DB2, JCL) into modern systems. - Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines utilizing Maven/Gradle, GitHub, and GitHub Actions. - Automate build, test, and deployment processes; write PowerShell scripts as needed. - Write and run unit and integration tests with JUnit; conduct code reviews. - Troubleshoot performance issues, debug code, and ensure high reliability. - Produce detailed technical documentation for code and processes.
