Job title: Cloud Engineer
Role Summary: Cloud Engineer (contract, 9‑12 months until 31 Dec 2026). Responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS infrastructure and containerised services using Kubernetes and related tooling. Ensures continuous delivery pipelines, network security, and high‑availability of application workloads.
Expactations: Deliver scalable, secure and reliable cloud solutions; automate infrastructure and deployments; collaborate with development teams; provide troubleshooting and performance tuning; maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of AWS services and DevOps best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision and manage AWS resources via CloudFormation templates.
- Deploy and operate containerised workloads on Amazon ECS/EKS and Kubernetes clusters.
- Configure and maintain AWS services: API Gateway, Lambda, EC2, RDS (Oracle), MSK, ELB, VPC, subnets, peering, firewalls.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bitbucket/GitLab, Nexus, Git, Jira.
- Script automation with PowerShell, Perl, Ruby, Node JS, or Python.
- Monitor, log, and optimise application performance and security.
- Work with Linux VMs and Kubernetes nodes; manage Docker images and container registries.
- Liaise on network architecture and security controls for a controlled environment (e.g., banking/financial services).
- Document infrastructure designs, procedures and best practices.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 9 years IT industry experience.
- 5+ years container/Kubernetes experience (EKS, ECS, K8s).
- 3+ years AWS CloudFormation and AWS service implementation.
- Proficiency with DevOps tooling: Jenkins, Bitbucket/Git, Nexus, Jira.
- Experience with Java‑based microservices, API design.
- Strong Linux operating system administration skills.
- Deep understanding of cloud networking: VPC, subnets, peering, firewalls.
- Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Perl, Ruby, Node JS, or Python.
- Docker image creation and orchestration knowledge.
- Exposure to regulated environments (banking/financial services).
- Familiarity with Oracle database on AWS RDS (preferred).
Required Education & Certifications:
- Relevant AWS certification(s) (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Developer, DevOps Engineer).
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent (implicit).
