Job Description
**Job title** Automation Student – Shift B **Role Summary** Summer intern assisting the Parts Handling Automation team. Shadow and support automation technicians in troubleshooting, repairing, and performing routine maintenance on IML robots, take‑out robots, and plastic container handling equipment. Contribute to preventive maintenance projects and quality checks while gaining hands‑on experience in a production environment. **Expectations** - Complete a 12‑week summer internship during the scheduled shift. - Follow all safety, HACCP, SQF, cGMP, and 5S protocols. - Work independently and collaboratively with team members. - Log activities and defects in standard internal forms. - Demonstrate adaptability in a high‑noise, physically demanding setting. **Key Responsibilities** - Ensure health & safety compliance; identify hazards; participate in investigations. - Assist setup of plastic containers, lid stacking, and related handling equipment. - Support robot installation, commissioning, and routine maintenance. - Repair and troubleshoot parts‑handling equipment as directed. - Perform line clearances and front‑line quality checks. - Use appropriate PPE and follow food‑safety procedures. - Engage in preventive maintenance and special projects when available. **Required Skills** - Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting ability. - Basic knowledge of PLCs, robotics, and automation equipment. - Familiarity with tools, machine shop practices, or tool‑making. - Computer proficiency for maintenance software and documentation. - Good written and spoken English communication. - Physical stamina for lifting, standing, walking, and repetitive motions. **Required Education & Certifications** - Current enrollment in a post‑secondary program in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or related field. - Completion of high‑school diploma or equivalent. - Training in cGMP and HACCP processes will be provided on the job.
