POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Parts Handling Supervisor, the Automation Summer Intern is responsible for assisting and shadowing the automation technician and other team members while learning about trouble shooting and repairing various IML Robots, take-out robots, plastic container and lid stacking equipment. The summer intern will also assist the Automation team with Preventative Maintenance or work on projects when time permits, as directed by the Parts Handling Supervisor.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

Ensure Health & Safety / HACCP & SQF / 5S Compliance, including proactively identify and suggesting ways to eliminate hazards and participating in safety investigation when required
Assist in set-up of various Plastic Containers and Lid Parts Handling Equipment
Assist with setting up robots and associated equipment for production run
Assist Team members with repairing parts handling equipment as required
Assist in the performance of basic robotic maintenance
Assist in the performance of line clearance and conducting front line quality check
Always comply with plant safety and HACCP, using appropriate PPE while performing various duties
Must follow food safety and cGMP processes and procedures – training is provided

Note: Work is performed in a production environment with high levels of noise. Heavy lifting and prolonged standing is required. Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling and some repetitive arm, wrist and shoulder movements are required in this position

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Educational Requirements: Student in related post-secondary program (Electromechanical Engineering)

Minimum Experience/Field: Experience in tool making and/or experience in a machine shop is an asset

Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Mechanical aptitude/strong troubleshooting skills preferred
