**Job title**: Cloud Systems Engineer II
**Role Summary**
Design, implement, and operate private cloud platforms, ensuring high availability, scalability, and integration with public clouds. Develop and maintain software for cloud orchestration, monitoring, and automation.
**Expectations**
- Operate reliable, highly‑available private cloud services across multiple geographic locations.
- Extend cloud capabilities through new features and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support production web services and system operations.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Deploy and manage OpenStack components (Keystone, Nova, Glance, Neutron, Cinder, Horizon, Ceilometer).
- Maintain storage, networking, load balancing, DNS, and clustering (Ceph, Galera, Pacemaker/Heartbeat).
- Automate infrastructure using Ansible, Puppet, or similar YAML‑based tools; build images with Packer.
- Containerize workloads with Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes; manage etcd and ArgoCD.
- Monitor performance and metrics with VictoriaMetrics/Prometheus.
- Configure and troubleshoot server virtualization (QEMU/KVM) and BGP.
- Integrate with public cloud services and third‑party APIs.
- Perform capacity planning, tuning, and HA design.
- Support hardware management and BMC interfaces (e.g., iDRAC).
- Collaborate on incident response, root‑cause analysis, and production support as required.
**Required Skills**
- Strong architecture and high‑availability system design.
- Python programming and API development.
- Proficiency with OpenStack ecosystem and associated services.
- Linux system administration, tuning, and security.
- Networking fundamentals (routing, BGP, load balancers, DNS).
- Experience with virtualization (KVM/QEMU) and container platforms.
- Configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, or similar).
- Infrastructure monitoring (Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics).
- Version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (ArgoCD).
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience).
- Certifications preferred: Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent; Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) or similar; OpenStack certification from RedHat, Mirantis, or equivalent.
