Job Description: **Job Title** Software Engineer (Intern) **Role Summary** Intern software engineer responsible for developing and maintaining core services of an AI‑driven retail forecasting platform. Deliver high‑performance RESTful APIs, design scalable database schemas, and collaborate cross‑functionally with data scientists, front‑end engineers, and product teams to ship end‑to‑end features. **Expectations** - Own core backend components during the internship term. - Deliver production‑grade services with strong quality and performance. - Communicate effectively with team members & stakeholders. - Apply best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, implement, and optimize FastAPI RESTful services. - Architect and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, handle indexing & query optimization. - Collaborate with data science to prepare and validate data feeds. - Work with front‑end team on integration points and API contracts. - Write unit and integration tests; contribute to CI/CD pipelines. - Profile and tune backend endpoints & database queries for low latency. - Deploy and manage containerized services using Docker; assist in production releases. **Required Skills** - Python (≥3.x) with experience in FastAPI and SQLAlchemy. - PostgreSQL schema design, indexing, and query performance tuning. - RESTful API design principles. - Version control with Git and collaborative workflow usage. - Containerization (Docker) and basic CI/CD pipeline configuration. - Strong problem‑solving, coding, and debugging skills. **Required Education & Certifications** - Current enrollment in or recent completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. - Equivalent practical experience or coursework that demonstrates backend development proficiency.
