**Job Title:** IT Support Engineer **Role Summary:** Provide 1st‑ and 2nd‑line technical support to ~600 users across multiple UK sites, ensuring hardware, software, network, and telephony services operate reliably. Act as a primary point of contact for incident resolution, system administration, and deployment of new technologies while maintaining security and documentation standards. **Expectations:** - On‑site presence at Leicester and Rugby sites; occasional home‑working permitted. - Travel between sites using personal vehicle (UK driving licence required). - Participation in out‑of‑hours on‑call rota as needed. - Professional, proactive customer service to staff at all levels. **Key Responsibilities:** - Diagnose and resolve incidents (hardware, software, network, telephony) – 1st/2nd line. - Perform user account setup, monitoring, and routine system maintenance. - Assist in testing, staging, and deploying new hardware, software updates, and systems. - Liaise with third‑party support providers for escalated issues. - Enforce IT security policies and support business continuity activities. - Maintain accurate documentation, asset registers, and ticket records. - Provide timely, courteous support and communication to end‑users. **Required Skills:** - Proven experience in 1st/2nd line IT support or service desk environment. - Strong knowledge of Windows OS, PC hardware troubleshooting, and basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). - Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and common business applications. - Experience using IT ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA). - Excellent verbal and written communication; customer‑focused attitude. - Solid problem‑solving abilities and willingness to learn new technologies. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. - Valid UK driving licence and own car for site travel. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum: GCSEs/standard secondary education or equivalent. - Relevant IT certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft 365 Certified).
