Job Description
Job title: Communications & Media Manager Role Summary: 12‑month contract covering parental leave to lead earned‑media strategy, press communication, and content production within the Revenue & Marketing unit. The role reports to the Deputy Director, Communications & Public Engagement and partners with the editorial team and cross‑functional stakeholders to amplify the organization’s public voice and support fundraising and advocacy goals. Expectations: Deliver high‑quality earned‑media outcomes, including press releases, statements, and talking points, that align with editorial priorities and organizational messaging. Manage complex projects such as the Annual Report, coordinate media moments, and analyze coverage data to optimize impact. Maintain an environment free from sexual or child abuse, in line with safeguarding policies. Remain adaptable to new strategies and remote collaboration. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and execute earned‑media plans, identify story angles, and secure coverage in relevant outlets. • Draft, edit, and approve press releases, statements, talking points, and spokeperson support materials. • Cultivate and nurture relationships with journalists, media partners, and influencer networks. • Collaborate with the core editorial team on content concepts and produce long‑ and short‑form written content for external audiences. • Project‑manage major deliverables (e.g., Annual Report), coordinating inputs, timelines, approvals, and cross‑functional stakeholders. • Monitor media performance, analyze data insights, and report on effectiveness to refine strategies. • Ensure all communication activities uphold gender equality, anti‑harassment, and safeguarding standards. Required Skills: • 5–7 years in communications, media relations, or public advocacy, with ≥3 years focused on earned media. • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling ability across multiple formats and audiences. • Strong media relations acumen, including relationship building and pitch development. • Proven project management of complex, multi‑stakeholder deliverables under tight deadlines. • Data‑driven mindset: ability to use metrics to assess impact and recommend improvements. • Collaborative team player comfortable working independently in a remote setting. • Understanding of gender‑equity and safeguarding policies and commitment to uphold them. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field. • Professional certifications in PR (e.g., APR, CMI, or similar) are a plus but not mandatory.
