CARE Canada is looking for a Communications & Media Manager (12 Months contract for a Parental Leave cover)
ABOUT THE ROLE / WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS
CARE Canada’s bold Strategic Plan, From Caring Comes Courage (2021 – 2027), sets out CARE Canada’s commitment to bring all our resources, talent, and expertise together to unlock women’s leadership for a gender-just future. It recognizes that to lead change and realize a better life for herself and her community, every woman needs to be safe, healthy and have a dignified livelihood. It also fundamentally realizes that ‘business as usual’ is no longer good enough: this Plan challenges us to reimagine how we achieve our mission, inspire Canadian investment in that mission, and transform our organization to be future-ready.
The Revenue & Marketing Unit is responsible for CARE Canada’s externally facing initiatives. The team is fundamental to achieving our goal of inspiring Canadians to join us in this journey with a brave and bold voice and through innovative partnerships and sustainable, balanced revenue sources.
The Communications & Media Manager plays an integral role on the Revenue and Marketing team, strengthening CARE Canada’s public voice and visibility through earned media and high-quality editorial content. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Communications & Public Engagement, the role focuses on media outreach and relations, writing and editing a wide range of public-facing content in line with editorial priorities, and coordinating the production of key communications deliverables – both external as well as some internal.
The Communications & Media Manager leads CARE Canada’s earned media and media engagement efforts, shaping how, when and with which outlets CARE Canada engages to best elevate its voice and public positions on key humanitarian and international development issues. This includes identifying and coordinating media moments, developing press releases and talking points, cultivating media relationships, and collaborating across CARE Canada and the CARE confederation to ensure message alignment.
The Communications & Media Manager works closely with CARE Canada’s newly established core editorial team, contributing content ideas for discussion and development. Once priorities are agreed, the Communications & Media Manager plays a central role in producing long and short form written content, working with colleagues across the organization to draft, shape and edit clear, compelling outputs.
The Communications & Media Manager also provides strong project management for complex communications deliverables—notably CARE Canada’s Annual Report—coordinating inputs, timelines, and approvals across teams to ensure high-quality and timely outputs.
Through this work, the Communications & Media Manager supports the Revenue and Marketing team’s objective to inspire Canadians to take meaningful action in support of CARE Canada’s mission, strengthen trust in the organization, and raise awareness of CARE Canada’s brand.
