Job Description
**Job Title:** Head of Retail Sales **Role Summary:** Lead the development and delivery of a profitable, sustainable retail growth strategy across the UK, owning the end‑to‑end channel – strategy, customer relationships, commercial delivery, and team capability. Represent retail at the senior leadership level and drive cross‑functional execution to position the business as a strategic partner rather than a supplier. **Expactations:** - Achieve profitable, sustainable growth aligned with brand strategy. - Deliver a clear, customer‑prioritised retail channel strategy with defined growth levers. - Build trusted senior relationships with key retail customers. - Build and lead a high‑performing, future‑ready retail team. - Maintain forecast accuracy, inventory availability, and service levels that support commercial ambition. - Base commercial decisions on data, discipline, and cross‑functional alignment. - Position the company as a strategic partner in retail markets. **Key Responsibilities:** - Set and execute the UK retail growth strategy, including customer prioritisation and trade architecture. - Own P&L for the retail channel, ensuring margin, volume, and profitability targets are met. - Negotiate contracts, terms, and partnerships with national and regional retail customers. - Develop and maintain senior relationships at the retailer’s director and executive level. - Lead, coach, and develop a commercial retail team, driving performance and succession planning. - Collaborate with sales, marketing, supply‑chain, and finance to align plans, forecasts, and service levels. - Provide regular commercial reviews to the senior leadership team (SLT) and contribute to long‑term strategic planning. - Champion data‑driven decision making and continuous process improvement across the retail function. **Required Skills:** - Strong commercial and financial acumen with P&L ownership experience. - Senior‑level negotiation and influencing capabilities. - Strategic thinking combined with operational execution. - Proven people leadership and coaching skills. - Ability to operate credibly at SLT and customer‑director levels. - Experience building high‑performing commercial teams in a fast‑paced, values‑led environment. - Track record of delivering profitable retail growth (not merely volume increases). **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related discipline (MBA or equivalent preferred). - Relevant retail or FMCG commercial certifications are advantageous.
