Job Description
**Job Title:** Junior IT Support Technician **Role Summary:** Provide first‑line desktop support for hardware, software, and network issues to local and global users. Responsible for ticket triage, troubleshooting, configuration of devices, documentation, and escalation of unresolved problems. **Expectations:** - Deliver prompt, customer‑focused assistance via phone, email, or in person. - Effectively communicate technical information to non‑technical users. - Maintain accurate records in the helpdesk system and contribute to knowledge base improvements. - Work independently and collaboratively to support continuous improvement of support processes. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Respond to support tickets and user inquiries. 2. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems in production and office environments. 3. Set up, configure, and maintain computers, printers, phones, and peripheral devices. 4. Document incidents, resolutions, and recurring issues in the helpdesk system. 5. Escalate complex issues to senior staff or development teams. 6. Maintain and update knowledge base articles and support documentation. 7. Assist with basic server component tasks (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, group policies). 8. Support network configuration tasks (IP subnets, LAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN, VLAN). **Required Skills:** - Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities. - Basic understanding of operating systems and common software applications. - Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, group policies, and network fundamentals. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Organizational and time‑management skills. - Attention to detail and a customer‑service mindset. - Ability to use helpdesk ticketing systems and document knowledge. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum 5 GCSEs (including English, Maths, and an IT‑related subject). - Valid driving license (bike or car) with personal transport for site visits. - Relevant apprenticeship or work experience in customer support/helpdesk roles is advantageous.
