Job Description
**Job Title** International & Indigenous Language Instructor – Elementary (IIL E) **Role Summary** Teach Greek to elementary students (JK–8) in a full‑time Saturday program. Provide a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment, planning and delivering lesson plans that develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while incorporating cultural content. **Expectations** - Deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons for diverse language proficiency levels. - Maintain accurate attendance records and conduct regular assessments. - Collaborate with school administration and the broader community to support student success. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Plan, prepare, and implement goal‑based short‑ and long‑term language lessons for in‑class (or online) instruction. 2. Develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Greek, integrating cultural components. 3. Conduct ongoing assessments, evaluate progress, and report findings as required. 4. Record and maintain attendance registers; report attendance data. 5. Provide a safe, positive, inclusive, respectful classroom environment. 6. Supervise students during the full 2.5‑hour instructional period. 7. Exhibit professional conduct per district policies (Safe Schools, Health & Safety, Respectful Workplace, etc.). 8. Collaborate with school administration and community stakeholders to enhance student well‑being. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in Greek; strong working knowledge of English (CLB 5+ or equivalent). - Ability to design daily lesson plans for students with varying abilities. - Classroom management, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. - Strong organizational and energetic teaching style. - Experience communicating effectively with a diverse learner group. **Required Education & Certifications** - Minimum: High School Diploma. - Preferred: University degree. - Teacher training or certification in language teaching methodologies (asset). - Teaching degree or experience from other countries (asset). - Language teaching experience in Canadian classrooms (asset). ---
