Instructor Elementary (IILE)

We are currently accepting applications for instructors who can speak and instruct in the Greek language for our International and Indigenous Languages (non-credit) programs for student from grades JK to 8. This is a September to June position (School year Program).

Location/Timing:

In person learning at Lawfield Elementary School , Saturday, weekly classes 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

Rate of Pay : $ 29.01/hour, for non-Ontario Certified Teachers

$ 32.56/hour, for Ontario certified Teachers in good standing.

Duties

Providing a safe, positive, inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students
Exhibit professional conduct in accordance with all HWDSB policies and procedures (e.g. Safe Schools, Health and Safety, Respectful Workplace, etc.)
Develop, prepare and deliver goal-based short and long-term plans for language lessons for in-class or online as needed
Develop students’ knowledge and skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in the target language, inclusive of cultural component
Conduct regular student assessments and evaluations in order to determine student progress, report as required
Record and maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance registers, and report on attendance as required
Collaborate with administration, and school community in the best interest of student success and well-being
Supervision of students during the 2.5 hrs in a classroom.

Qualifications/Experience

High School Diploma required
University Degree preferred
Teacher training/training in language teaching methodologies an asset
Teaching Degree/experience from other countries an asset
Language teaching experience in the Canadian classroom an asset
Must exhibit competency in the International Language of instruction and have a good working knowledge of English (at least CLB5+ level in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening or equivalent English Language fluency)
Ability to develop daily lesson plan and execute lessons for students with varying abilities and language skills
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Demonstrated successful classroom teaching experience, preferably with elementary students
Strong interpersonal skills when dealing with a variety of learners
High energy – an excitement for teaching
Strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills
