**Job Title:** Data Center Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of data center infrastructure, ensuring continuous availability of network, power, and cooling systems while meeting security and performance standards.
**Expectations:**
* Long‑term contract role requiring ongoing support and proactive system management.
* Must operate within established data center policies, comply with security protocols, and coordinate with IT and management teams.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Install and configure servers, racks, switches, and other data center hardware.
2. Monitor system performance, perform root‑cause analysis, and resolve hardware/software incidents.
3. Execute regular maintenance, firmware updates, and software patches.
4. Oversee HVAC operation and ensure efficient cooling performance.
5. Manage power distribution, monitor UPS and generator status, and maintain power reliability.
6. Conduct routine network maintenance: user account management, permissions, email, anti‑virus, and anti‑spam controls.
7. Perform data backup verification and coordinate storage procedures.
8. Assist in disaster recovery planning and execution during power outages, fires, or other emergencies.
9. Document configuration changes, procedures, and network diagrams.
10. Maintain security standards and audit compliance for all data center assets.
11. Communicate status updates and incidents to IT staff and management.
**Required Skills:**
* Proficiency in server installation, rack mounting, and hardware troubleshooting.
* Strong understanding of LAN/WAN networking, switches, routers, and cabling.
* Experience with data center power, UPS, and HVAC systems.
* Familiarity with backup solutions and disaster recovery operations.
* Ability to use monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, PRTG).
* Documentation and configuration management skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
* Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent.
* Valid driver’s license preferred for on‑site support duties.
